Enjoy Honda 2017 Part 2

Enjoy Honda 2017 in HSR Kyushu
There were quite a few visitors over the two days of Saturday and Sunday.
It is hard to walk, especially on Sundays.

EH17-2-1

This time, we will focus on two wheels.
The pre-release CBR250RR and X-ADV are displayed on a dais for special treatment.

EH17-2-2

EH17-2-3

The Rebe250/500, released on 4/17, seems to be made for easy handling.
I wonder if we can expect to see a derivative model developed...

EH17-2-4

I couldn't even touch the RC213V-S last year.
This year, I was not able to climb over and start the engine, but I was able to turn the key on.
There was even a staff commentary on the meter opening screen.
Unfortunately, the off-road was an all-Japan champion machine, but its popularity was nowhere near as high as it should have been.

EH17-2-5

In the motorcycle exhibition area, there were CRF250 RALLY, CBR1000RR, CB1100RS, etc. just after their release.
It seems to be a hit with women and children (the little ones have big smiles on their faces).

EH17-2-6

EH17-2-12

We also hold motorcycle test-ride events where you can test ride the latest vehicles.

EH17-2-7

This is the face of the test drive vehicle.

EH17-2-8

I would like to see a test ride session, and if I had my way, I would like it to be held on a circuit course.

EH17-2-9

The senior staff member of "Bak-ON! and it was a rare collaboration with HONDA.

EH17-2-10

Shigemi Nobutoki, well-known for his work on MOTORISE, also visited the exhibition.
The contrast between SPA Naoiri GIRL and Raimu Senpai was surreal.

EH17-2-11

The rest of the event details will follow later. See you soon....

Furikake Grand Prix 2017

I went to the Furikake Grand Prix 2017.

FG-1

This event will be held at the Hanabatake Plaza/New Town Arcade.

FG-2

There are various theories, but Kumamoto is considered to be the birthplace of furikake.
Companies from all over the country come together to sample a variety of items at one time.

FG-3

To sample furikake, purchase a pack of rice for ¥200 at the rice sales counter.
You will also receive a voting ticket and a gara-pon lottery ticket together.

FG-4

After purchasing, go around to each booth and ask for sprinkles.

FG-5
(I tried to pour many things at once and the flavors got mixed up and I couldn't tell which company was which.)

After the tasting, we will head to the voting and drawing.

FG-6
(I'll settle for the standard stuff, in my opinion.)

Here are today's loot (purchased and sample items of various kinds).

FG-7

The weather was a bit sweaty, reminiscent of early summer.
The scars from the earthquake are less noticeable in the center of Kumamoto, and the event is a lively event.
Enjoy Honda content is still being edited. See you soon.

Enjoy Honda 2017 Part 1

I went to Enjoy Honda 2017 in HSR Kyushu.

The Kyushu event was held at HSR Kyushu, located adjacent to the Honda R&D Kumamoto Plant in Kumamoto Prefecture.
This year will be the first major event since the earthquake.

EH17-OP-1

This time, the temperature has not yet risen and the cherry blossoms are only 2 to 3 minutes in bloom.

EH17-OP-2

It was chilly first thing in the morning, but there was quite a crowd.
It's been a year since the earthquake, and everyone seems to have been looking forward to it.

EH17-OP-3

This is an event where visitors can experience the technical capabilities of ALL Honda, regardless of whether it is a two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicle.
The details of the event will be announced later. See you then...

Water leakage occurred!

The toilet tank seems to be leaking.
It is an apartment over 20 years old, so it can't be helped.
We have contacted the landlord and it will take a while.
So, since the symptoms of water leakage are getting worse, we will take it apart and check the current status.

The cause was simple: a piece of resin was trapped in the piston valve.

Water-1
Water-2

Once the resin pieces were removed, the leak stopped.
I've replaced the pistons and O-rings, so the repair is almost complete.
Since it means replacing the entire set of items inside, let the contractor do the rest.

Water-3

This will finally eliminate the water noise and make it less bothersome. See you soon...

Running-in 500Km

We did a break-in run up to 500Km.
It can only turn up to 4000 rpm or less, so it can only go about 100 km/h in 6th gear.
I couldn't drive on the highway, so I wondered what was going on.
The highway between Hinaku and Tsunagi in the direction of Ashikita has not yet been opened and is now a free section.
Light trucks, large trucks, etc. are also running, so the RPMs are just right.
The distance of the section is about 30 km, so we made several round trips over two days to gain distance.

There are places along the way where you can see the ocean, so it is a good place to relax and flow.

Near Tanoura

3. Tanoura_Sea

We took a break at a Family Mart near the I.C. on the Tsunagi side.

4. Tsunaki_Family

I wonder if this highway is selling a way station.

5. Roadside Station

At the end of the Hinaku IC, there is a park with a view of the sea, where we took a break.

We have reached our target distance and are heading home.

Finally, after 500Km of driving, I can turn it up to 6000rpm,
This eliminated the problem in normal use and greatly reduced stress.
I will run for 1000Km next time. See you soon....

Engine overhaul!

I was in bad shape because the road I was running on was unusable after the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016.
The car was overhauled for inspection.

OH-1 OH-2
The valve guide lip was worn, causing the oil to drop.
I was prepared for this, but I am shocked.
I ordered the valve guide in June while it was out of stock due to a series of other bad things.
Delivery was in October.

A report after the overhaul will follow in due course. See you soon...

first day of spring (according to the traditional lunisolar calendar, approx. Feb. 4)

Hello, RPV.

How is everyone doing? Risshun has passed, but the cold weather continues.

The plum trees in my garden are still in bud. It seems that the early ones are already in bloom.

P2090018

I am looking forward to the blooming.

Thanks to your support, we have been busy with many orders for our business. I couldn't resist and went fishing on Saturday night.

The winter pressure pattern was cold, the wind was strong, and there were no fish to be caught, making it an unbelievable fishing situation.

DSC_1270

Still, I gutted it out and caught three horse mackerels. I am very emotional because of all the hard work I put in.

Next time I will go when it is a little warmer. It looks like the cold weather will continue. I hope you all don't catch a cold.

New Year's Greetings

Happy New Year, RPV.

Thank you very much for your support during the past year. We look forward to working with you again this year.

pb170086

Last year was a year of earthquakes and other disasters! I hope this year will be uneventful and safe.

By the way, at the end of last year we installed the latest software for analysis.

pc260090

This is a full option module for VG Studio Max 3.0.

pc260087

Defect/inclusion analysis, coordinate measurement, design value/measured value comparison, and wall thickness analysis are available.

The ability to read and compare CAD data, etc., is more advanced than ever before for checking product workmanship.

If you have an X-ray CT scanner, you can do the CT scanning, and we can do the 3D analysis,

We can perform these 3D analyses alone, so please feel free to contact us.

So, everyone, let's all do our best to have a good year.

Year-end and New Year's Notice

Hello, RPV. It has been a while.

Thanks to your support, we have been very busy and have not had the time to do much for a while now. We apologize for the delay in updating this blog.m(>o<)m

From the 24th to the 26th of last month, we exhibited at the Pacifico Yokohama die-casting exhibition. After that, I was so busy with inquiries, business trip visits, and daily operations that I had no time at all~.

dsc_1293

The first day was sleeting weather, and it was quite cold for those of us who live in the southern country of Kumamoto.

dsc_1310

This time, the number of visitors from abroad seemed to be especially large. I could really feel the enthusiasm for manufacturing in their own countries! We should learn from their enthusiasm!(--;)

dsc_1299

We also appreciate that many of our business partners visited our booth. Thank you again. We also apologize for not having announced the event on our website and blog in advance. We apologize again. We plan to exhibit again next year in the Kanto area, and we will try to notify you in advance when we do so.

dsc_1305

Well, this year is almost over. This year was quite a blessed year for us in terms of work, although there were many things that happened, including the Kumamoto earthquake. The image above is of the 18-meter high tower at Kumamoto Castle. It was quite a shock to see it in person and brings back memories of that time. With the support of many people, this turret and Kumamoto Castle will eventually be restored to its original heroic appearance.

I would also like to make a fresh start next year and make it a year of leaps and bounds, work and all. We will open for business on the 5th of next year.

Thank you very much for your support this past year. We look forward to working with you again next year.

I wish you all a Happy New Year!(^_^)/~RPV

Repair tank cap fuel leak (X-ray fluoroscopy)

Hello, RPV.

This time I am trying to repair a tank cap fuel leak on an old Yamaha 2-stroke off-road vehicle. I did this a while ago and was able to fix the fuel leak without it recurring, so I wrote this article about it. I think it is a common part with other models of vehicles, so I hope it will be helpful for those who have one.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but there are traces of gasoline seepage from the tank cap key cylinder area. When driving after filling up the tank, there is a noticeable seepage and gasoline smell for a while. I thought about replacing the cap itself, but it would require an additional key dedicated to the tank, and it would be depressing to wonder which is the main key when riding, so I decided to identify the cause of the leak in this cap and repair it with minimal parts replacement utilizing this cap and key cylinder.

Image 1

First, let's take a look at the tank cap through an X-ray. The O-ring can be seen in the blue circle. It seems that the O-ring is just a seal between the tank chamber and the outside air.

The O-ring only part is not supplied by the manufacturer and the price is a little over 5,000 yen for the cap assembly. I will try to replace the O-ring only.

First, the key cylinder (the metal part where the key enters) must be removed from the plastic cap. From the exterior, it is not clear how to remove the key cylinder.
Image 5
Then, looking at the X-ray image further, we can confirm that there is a claw-like object that connects the plastic cap to the key cylinder in the red circle in the above image. To separate these two parts, move the key unit downward in the X-ray image (upward from the car body) while holding the claws toward the center using a thin screwdriver or the like. The image below shows the metal part protruding from the upper side of the key unit, which has already been separated. This metal claw holds the plastic cap and key cylinder in place.
Image 7
Image 6
Disassemble the tank cap and remove the O-ring.
Image 2
Comparison of old and new O-rings. The left is the new ring and the right is the old ring.
Of course, get a fuel-resistant type. I measured the dimensions of the part where the O-ring fits and the deformed O-ring, and purchased the size I thought would fit.
Image 3
The following are the product names and features of tank cap O-rings that seem to match my bike.
Inside diameter: 12.3
Outer diameter: 16.1
Thickness: 1.9
Material: 4D
I chose this one because the main ability required is that it is athletic compatible and gasoline resistant. o-ring size, etc. may vary depending on the model and year of the bike, so this is just a reference.
The car was assembled back together and is now complete. When I turn the key on the fuel tank, the rattle that I had before is gone, and the feel of a new car seems to have returned.
It has been over 6 months and the fuel seepage is no longer as bad as before.
